The days when sugar was viewed as a cheap bulking ingredient could be numbered. Today spiking prices are feeding food inflation with a 22% increase in annual global prices in 2021 followed up by a further 6.2% increase in 2022. Already in the first few months of 2023 prices have increased by an additional 4%.
